What can at home be used to lance a fingernail?

My husband needs to lance his fingernail which is turning all shades of purple and needs the pressure released. He is refusing to go to the doctor - any home suggestions on how to lance it properly? What can at home be used to lance a fingernail?
Try the red hot paper clip. If that is too much for him (some people can't take it, even though it doesn't hurt), get a small (e/g 3/16 inch or smaller) metal drill bit. Make sure its sharp, a new one works best. Using hand pressure only, spin the drill bit slowly between your finger and thumb while holding the cutting tip on the top of the nail. It will slowly cut away the fingernail material, and will let the pressure off. Just do it soon, once the blood congeals, the pressure will still be there, but you won't be able to relieve it.What can at home be used to lance a fingernail?
Yes, we used to find someone to take a pair of pliers and a hot needle And poke a hole down through the top. It doesn't hurt like you think it would and a drop of blood comes out and pressure is released. Then the healing begins.

He needs some one with a strong stomach and he cant flinch when it is done. You can heat the needle by a flame or lighter. I've had it done a few times in my life. Again it wont hurt like you think it might.

Don't forget me when you choose your best answer, Thank you.
1] unwind half a paper clip

2] heat up the straight end with a match or flame

3] poke thru nail

They do/did it in the ER all the time.

This doesn't hurt like you think it would, and releases the pressure /blood under the nail.

4] Then wash area well, rinse, and cover with bandage [ bandaid ] until sealed over.
get a sewing needle, heat it till red hot carefully, then use it to burn a small hole in his nail, that should relieve the pressure.
Not the best idea but take a exacto ( bad spelling lol) knife and make a small hole. It should release some pressure. Make sure you clean it well before and after. Its not a perfect answer but it may help!! Good luck
