What is so bad about black fingernail polish?

Every body thinks there is something extremely wrong with black fingernail polish and i wanna know why. What is so bad about black fingernail polish?
i dont think anything is wrong with it :] i wear black nail polish sometimes xD i like it, my sister is always saying its gothic and all that but she's idk... weird ahahah, but if you like it dont listen to what other people say :]What is so bad about black fingernail polish?
Absolutely nothing! It's the people who have a problem with people who wear it. They gave it the bad reputation because they associate it with a certain type of people. Its a problem with society; everyone has a problem with someone who deviates from the norm in a society. In this case, its the ';gothics';. But when it comes down to it black is a color just like every other color.
Here's a breaf history to Black Nail Polish. All good as far as I can tell.

Ancient China

For VIPs Only

Nail varnish originated in China; some dynasties reserved black and red for royalty.

1967

Trippy Chic

Moody London boutique Biba makes black nail varnish for its groovy clientele.

1974

Bohemian Crossover

Flouting several conventions in one go, glam kingpin Freddie Mercury wears black varnish, but only on one hand; Marc Bolan, David Bowie, and other rock-star gender benders also polish.

1979

Ominous Glamorous

Bauhaus releases “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” a throbbing goth anthem; their fans incorporate lots of black everything for both genders.

1996

Comfort Goth

White contacts and black nails: the basis of Marilyn Manson’s safe-for-the-mainstream wardrobe.

1998

The Drugstore Version

Urban Decay releases Perversion, a vinyl black polish with purple highlights named after a Gravity Kills album.

1999

High Fashion, Part I

The models in Gucci ads sport immaculately manicured black nails.

2003

Still Rock and Roll

Despite cropping up on fashion models, black nail polish still says “rebellious rock,” as evidenced by indie band the Deathray Davies’ album, titled Midnight at the Black Nail Polish Factory.

July 2003

A Manly Manicure

Football superstar/dandy David Beckham is photographed for L’Uomo Vogue with black nails.

2005

Red Carpet Accessory

Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie keep their bad-girl images by mixing black nails with couture outfits.

Summer 2006

High Fashion, Part II

Chanel introduces Black Satin ($18), whose limited-edition status virtually ensures the kind of waiting-list frenzy that greeted its legendary 1994 Vamp.
I don't think everybody thinks that. I see girls with it all the time, celebrities as well (Lauren Conrad if you can call her a celebrity). Its not my personal taste, partly because it would look bad at even the slightest chip but also because it just would not fit my personal style. It has the potential to be cute though.
I think black fingernail polish isn't too bad, but depending on your fingers/nails, it, along with many other darker shades of nail polish, sometimes make fingers look stubby. That's the only problem I have with it.. aesthetics.

Others just find it ';weird'; ';stupid'; ';goth';, you know the normal stupid stuff that judgmental people say.

Live and let live =D
there's nothing wrong with it now. but most people associate it with the emo/goth/punk/rock band group. which back then, wasn't that awsme of an identity to have. if you wore black nail polish, it meant your soul was dark..... or something. it was kind of a symbol for other people to let them know you were a satan worshiper or just plain gothic.

but don't worry, these days, black nail polish is the norm just like lime green or blue. =)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. People have different opinions, but don't worry about it! Just make sure that you put on clear-coat nail polish before you put on any dark colored nail polish on your nails because the dark color could damage your nails. :D
umm...nobody really thinks there is something wrong with it, people just think when people wear it they are trying to be gothic or emo or something...i think it is stupid lol

i mean, seriously, who cares what color nails another person has, they can do whatever they want if you ask me
Omgosh I know. I was wearing it last week and I'm like the opposite of gothic and depressed ya know but this guy was like ';Woah Ivy, you going for the emo look now?!'; Lol there's nothing wrong with it. It's cute! Stacy London wears black nail polish
NOTHING! it's awesome! : ] don't worry about what others think or say! if you like it then sport it girly!!! and it won't ruin your nails if you protect your nails with a bottom and top coat! and it's not only for emo/scene kids. black can be a very classy color to wear with a nice evening outfit.
Nothing! I love black nail polish. Im not gothic or hard core or anything. I love the color because its so not me and I love how it gives me an edgey look. Screw people on what they think. Though I would understand if it's in a professional field.
nothing is wrong its just generally worn or seen by goths or gothic ppl, or depressed ppl so that is why it has a bad rep. But lately more and more ppl seem to be wearing it so i think its becoming more widely accepted.
well because it looks very goth and some people are scared of goth people. Yet nothing is wrong with goth people or black nail polish unless you have blond hair than the colors don't go well together. And some people think it is ugly.
I guess it all has to do with opinions. I think black nail polish looks fine when girls wear it with maybe a silver dress, or a cute casual outfit. I just think there is something wrong with guys who wear it.
There is nothing wrong with black nail polish. It may be considered goth or emo but it is actually worn by people of all types.

Wear what you want and not what others want you to wear.
people who label other people consider it ';emo'; because of the color, %26amp; don't wear black nail polish because they don't want tto be ';emo'; either.

yeah i know, immature(: bahah.
Who's ';everybody';? They're just being prejudice. It's just a color. The only thing wrong with it is that it can stain your nails, so wear a clear coat underneath. There's nothing wrong with expressing yourself. :)
I love it, especially on my toes, but it looks super tacky when it chips. Some people try to wear it to be goth or emo, and that's lame, but its ok when just worn to wear it.
nothings bad about it but it may make your skin look pale because its dark.thats about it some people say it makes you look emo but i wear it all the time and i deff am not emo.

just a sterio type
I find nothing wrong with black polish....I think it is cool, too. You do not have to be Goth to wear it either as many think you do. I love navy blue and pure white, too.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I've actually never heard anyone say anything bad about it. There's nothing wrong with it, I guess some people just don't like it.
There is nothing wrong with it! And it doesn't stain your nails as long as you put a clear base coat on before.

It goes with everything and is bold and sexy.
its the newest in thing

nothing, i love it especially adding a stripe of colour or something just people are hypocritical and if you wear black nail polish you are emo apparently
really? i know sooo many people that love it, including myself :D

my teacher even wears it, my mom wears it too. and some.
People see black nail polish and think goth or punk or emo, which are looked down upon for some reason, but there's nothing wrong about it..
There are always those insecure idiots out there looking for someone to pick on, so they probably think its stupid and emo, but I love black nail polish. Just do what you wanna do : )
a lot of people just dont like it. it makes your nails look like they're filthy and makes the person who's wearing black nail polish kinda goth

there are much better colors
thats becos it looks so artificial

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?…
i don't know, whenever i wear black nail polish,people-not random people or anything-but like my friends and stuff ask me if im emo
There is a rumor among some that it is associated with witchcraft. that's why private schools and programs don't allow dark nail polish.
