I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. You can buy pure acetone (not fingernail polish) to remove it. Look it up online.
You might have to rearrange the furniture and throw out the sheets if that doesnt work.
if nail polish remover doesn't work the only other thing that might is acetic acid (vinegar). If that doesn't work, its not coming out.
