I would not recommend doing this for several reasons:
1. You will open your skin up for further infections. Which will cause your acne to become worse.
2. You also have the chance of getting extra scarring. Depending on how deep the pimple is it will leave a permanent mark known as ';pockmarks'; due to the scarring.
There are several treatments for acne, depending on your budget and your insurance. If you have health insurance, you need to find a good dermatologist. Do not waste your money on proactiv or the other store junk. A dermatologist can recommend a good medication such as Benzaclin gel etc. Which works very well. They might also recommend a Retin-A treatment at night.
As for face washes make sure you buy a wash that has at least 2% salicylic acid. If it has less than 2% or no salicylic acid, then you are just wasting your money. Hope this helps. Check out the following links below. But please, put down the sandpaper and nail files.
Also exfoliating excessively can make it worse as well.
