Fingernail tips lose the typical white tint after long exposure to water?

After I shower, bathe and sometimes when doing a large amount of dishes, the tips of my fingernails (where it turns white after growing off the nail bed) loses the white tint and is sort of transparent. It takes somewhere between 12 and 24 hours for them to return to white. Is this normal? Is it a result of something like an illness or disease? Fingernail tips lose the typical white tint after long exposure to water?
That is normal. Your nails are porous and will absorb water, which will change the color of the cuticle. It's just like if you have ever worn dark nail polish for too long and it turns the nails yellow. Eventually they return to normal.
