What causes your fingernail to fall off when it's smashed?

i smashed my finger in a car door a couple days ago, and everyone says it looks like my nail is going to fall off. right now it's black and a little puffy at the cuticle. how does it survive getting smashed, but falls off a little while later?What causes your fingernail to fall off when it's smashed?
The blood vessels keep blood flowing but when the connective tissue dies than it falls off because there's no blood flowing to that area.What causes your fingernail to fall off when it's smashed?
its because u r bleeding under the nail and eventually the nail will pop off to prevent this u need to go to the doector and they will drain the blood. my dog bit me and i had that not as severe tho i have blood under there sitll i didnt have to get the drilling done but i accidently peeled some of it off. the bleeding has stopped now.
i've smashed my fingersnails before but they never fell off. That's an old wives tale! :-) ..someone's just having fun with you...rookie! :-)
the connective stuff dies and recreates new tissue nail falls off and regrows again.
