How do you get fingernail polish out of carpet?

my 2 year old just dumped fingernail polish on our carpet. What should I do?How do you get fingernail polish out of carpet?
I suppose you could try fingernail polish remover, but test first in a small hidden spot to see what it does to the carpet. You wouldn't want it to bleach it out and leave a white spot! How do you get fingernail polish out of carpet?
Fingernail polish is extremely difficult to totally remove. The goal should be to reduce it as much as possible without destroying the carpet or the backing. If only the fiber tips on a cut-pile carpet in a very small area are affected, snip the tips with Duckbill Napping Shears or maybe regular scissors.. If the spill is extremely severe, you will probably need to patch or section (';cookie cutter';) the affected area by removing it and replacing it with remnant from elsewhere. Otherwise, blot with acetone or fingernail polish remover until all the polish that you can remove is removed. A product called Stain Magic with steam may be required to get rid of any remaining stain. Another product called Pro-Solve Gel is also effective in removing fingernail polish.
i did this to minee!! my dad killed me, but he got it out with carbohyted car engine cleaner or somethin [your husband might know what it is], and he scrubbed it all out, DONT use fingernail polish remover it doesnt work.
try non acetone polish remover. try just a little bit in one place first but it should work. if not try some of the carpet cleaners you can get a the grocery store.

i hope this helps.
if the carpet is plush, you can take fingernail scissors and gently snip away the fibers once it dries. If not, put a big plant over it. Hope its a color you like, I've never been able to get it out of the carpet.
Try fingernail polish remover, or go to some shops where you can ask.

If not, buy something to cover it
If your carpet is synthetic you may want to try a silicone spray. I find that it cleans things like magic. Safe for use on plastics but would not recommend for natural fiber.
