lol i just did that from my toilet not 5 minutes ago. Mr. clean erasers. or rubbing alcohol.
the real question is why can't you use remover and if there is an issue with remover how about not putting fingernail polish on...

use white or clear finger nail polish. do each finger at a time. I heard that works!
u cld try alcohol, thou it doesnt work very well.. household cleaners, abit rough on the nails thou.. scratch it off, but it might strip ur nails off natural shine and damage them...
