How likely is it for a wood splinter under a fingernail to become infected?

I got a tiny little splinter of wood stuck under my fingernail, and i tried getting it out, but i'm too big of a wuss and it hurt too bad. So, I'm just going to leave it.How likely is it for a wood splinter under a fingernail to become infected?
It is perfectly fine to leave it alone. It will work itself out. If by chance you notice pus or infection, you can gently push on your nail until the blister is popped, which will allow the splinter to come out. Keep an eye on it, keep it clean and allow nature to take its course. If you notice a red line, or have extreme pain in your finger, see your doctor. I have had tons of splinters and not all of them have come out, some for weeks or months. Our bodies have a way of getting rid of invaders. The white blood cells attack the offending alien and does what it does best by pushing it out of the body. How likely is it for a wood splinter under a fingernail to become infected?
It is very likely that it will get infected. Eather get it out yourself, or go to the doctor. Time for you to man up! ;-)
Very likely.Get it pulled out.
It will become infected if you leave it there. You may also loose the nail as a result. You need to get it out and if you cannot then go to your doctor.
