Why is it that mosquito bites feel better when you create an indention with your fingernail upon the bite?

I sometimes (just for fun) make an ';X'; shape in my mosquitos bites, and somehow they feel better, can someone explain why?Why is it that mosquito bites feel better when you create an indention with your fingernail upon the bite?
Because you are creating a ';new'; pain over the pain/discomfort of the mosquito bite. Seems strange but it totally works - I actually learned that in psychology! Your psyche is now focused on the x, not the bite...

They say make each x line for 5 seconds each and it not only makes it feel better but makes the swelling go down too.Why is it that mosquito bites feel better when you create an indention with your fingernail upon the bite?
Do you notice when you do that clear liqid comes out? With my bites that happens and I figure its because the poison is being forced out and the reason they become itchy again is because the poison seeps back in though your pores
Pressure and giving the nerves a different sensation help.
