I'm getting surgery soon and one of the requirements is that I can't have on fingernail polish on a certain time before my surgery. Why is that?How is surgery and fingernail polish related?
When you are to have surgery, they have you remove your nail polish so they will be able to see your fingernail beds. When a person is not getting enough oxygen, the beds of their fingernails start to turn blue. If a person is wearing nailpolish, the medical personnel won't be able to see that area to get an idea of whether the patient is properly oxygenated!
